PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO — Convoy of Hope is thankful that Hurricane Patricia did not have the devastating impact so many forecasters had warned it would.
“The storm weakened a lot as it made landfall,” reports one of our team members on the ground in Mexico. “There are still people in shelters, but there are no reported fatalities and Mexico was spared any major damage.”
Our Disaster Services team continues to work with our in-country teams assessing needs and areas that were in the impact zone. The team is also keeping a close eye on a remnant of the hurricane as it heads toward Texas where forecasters say it could cause severe flooding.

PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO — Hurricane Patricia, a Category 5 hurricane with estimated winds to reach 200 miles per hour, is barreling toward Mexico’s Pacific coast and is expected to make landfall later today.
Forecasters report that Patricia could be the largest storm ever recorded in history. Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Services team is ready to respond with water, food, and shelter.
“We have our teams here, in Mexico and in Central America, ready for a full-scale response,” says Chris Dudley, Disaster Services Response Director. “Because we are expecting a major catastrophe and know the impoverished will be severely impacted, time is of the essence.”
