OAXACA CITY, MEXICO — Yesterday, the team unloaded the first load of food into the new distribution center in Oaxaca City. Approximately 105,000 meals and 1,200 hygiene kits will be delivered to families in Juchitan and the surrounding areas.

Convoy of Hope is working with local partners to continue distributions in the coming days. The next 84,000 meals will be delivered tomorrow.

October 3, 2017 | 8 p.m.

Today, Convoy of Hope did mobile distributions in two communities affected by the recent earthquake. To date, there have been 7,000 meals served, 250 individuals served, and 50 hygiene kits distributed.

October 3, 2017 | 9 a.m.

After completing initial assessments of the areas affected by the earthquake, our team has decided to focus on Jojutla and Juchitan. Our team is working to assemble and distribute care kits to earthquake survivors in need.

Each care kit is 35 pounds and contains canned vegetables, tuna, pasta, beans, rice, salt, cooking oil, cereal, shelf stable milk, and snacks. The care kits will also include five pounds of hygiene items, including laundry detergent, bleach, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, menstrual health products, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

Convoy will be working with local partners to install up to 500 family shelters.

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO — The death toll in Mexico has risen to at least 273 people following Tuesday’s magnitude-7.1 earthquake. The devastating earthquake flattened entire towns and decimated buildings across Mexico City and nearby areas. Convoy of Hope is responding by sending a team to distribute emergency relief supplies to survivors in need. Follow the response here.
