In a community just outside the centre of Melilla, Spain, Pastor César and his team came with the desire to meet the needs of the people. For five years now, Convoy of Hope has partnered with Pastor César to help bring change.
Several times a month, his church distributes food packs to every family who comes to receive them. These packs include nonperishable items like pasta, beans, and canned goods that will feed an entire family for a whole week.
Some community members who had once been hostile towards the church started coming to be fed. With each nourishing meal, their anger began to dissolve. The people in the community saw clearly that the church was not an enemy, but a lifeline.
“The neighbourhood has been completely transformed. Most of the young people who caused the problems in the community now have jobs and are providing for their families, while their mothers have found support and a voice.”
Through the distribution of the food packs in partnership with Convoy of Hope, the church has been able to have a substantial impact in a troubled place. Their consistent kindness sparked a true transformation. Their desire to continue loving a neighbourhood defined by rejection became the very force that opened hearts, built trust, and changed an entire community.
Our partners in Melilla chose to be all in. No matter what came their way, they remained focused on the goal: to love and meet the needs of their community. Pastor César and his team are a powerful example of what happens when love refuses to leave.
