Life hasn’t been easy for Radmila. A mother of three, she has faced many challenges and seasons of deep struggle, when meeting even the most basic needs for herself and her children seemed out of reach. The weight of those hardships fell on her shoulders, and they shaped the course of her family’s journey.
In the most difficult times of her life, Radmila found herself far from her home in Bulgaria, both physically and emotionally. Consumed by the struggle to survive, she spent years away, separated from her children and searching for any means to make ends meet. Yet even in those distant places, her heart remained with her family. It was this unbroken connection, and the quiet strength of love, that ultimately led her back to Bulgaria.
Returning home was more than a physical move. It was the start of a deeper transformation. Inspired by her mother’s steadfast faith and encouragement, Radmila joined Convoy of Hope’s local Women’s Empowerment programme. Her mother had always believed that a different life was possible for her daughter — and gently helped Radmila to see it, too.
Radmila began to rediscover her sense of purpose. She made the decision to step away from her past work and began seeking a path rooted in dignity and stability. She turned her focus towards her family, rebuilding relationships with her children and grandchildren and learning to cherish the everyday moments that give life its meaning. For the first time, Radmila truly began to live.
Today, she speaks with a heart full of gratitude.
“I thank Convoy of Hope and the church from the bottom of my heart for the precious spiritual and moral support they have given me in my toughest moments. I am grateful that I am free again … I am grateful that today I am with my children and my family, right where my place is. You did more than lend a hand — you also gave me hope, faith, and the strength to keep moving forward.”
Radmila looks to the future with faith. She dreams of a better life for her children, especially her son, who is currently serving time in prison. Her greatest hope is that he, too, will experience the peace and freedom she has found.
Though her past is marked by struggle, Radmila’s story is not one of defeat. It is a testimony of resilience, the power of community, and the possibility of change. Above all, it is a story of hope — hope that has been rekindled, restored, and shared.
