Convoy of Hope’s Global International Women’s Day Celebration Hosts Celebrity Chef Simon Majumdar

SPRINGFIELD, MO — MARCH 8, 2023 — Tickets are sold out for Convoy of Hope’s annual International Women’s Day Celebration, which is being held tomorrow at Bass Pro’s White River Conference Center in Springfield, Missouri. Additional celebrations are taking place in Dallas, Puerto Rico and Australia. Celebrity Chef Simon Majumdar will attend the events in both Springfield and Dallas.

“The Women’s Empowerment program is so special … I’ve been to Tanzania, El Salvador, [and] Guatemala, and everything about the Women’s Empowerment group really touches my heart. So when I come to something like [International Women’s Day], it shows me it’s such an important thing,” said Chef Simon.

With a unique perspective on the importance of nutrition and the fight against hunger, Chef Simon Majumdar is a mainstay on the Food Network — appearing in numerous episodes of hit shows, including Iron Chef and Cutthroat Kitchen. Simon and his wife, Sybil, recently traveled to Tanzania with Convoy of Hope and have been inspired to leverage their influence and talents to help advance our mission.

The event benefits Convoy of Hope’s Women’s Empowerment initiative. Attendees will learn about the initiative and how they can help women and girls around the world.

“This is an opportunity for women to come together as a global community and celebrate the impact we are making,” says Doree Donaldson, Convoy of Hope’s vice president of Convoy:Women.

In 2022, Convoy of Hope’s Women’s Empowerment program served more than 34,900 women and girls. The program has served more than 99,000 women since it began in 2010.

Media is invited to stop by the event in Springfield from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on March 8 to shoot video of participants packing 5,000 menstrual health kits that will be sent to women and girls around the world. Interviews with Doree Donaldson can also be held at that time.
