The Syrian conflict began in 2011, when a protest turned into an attempted coup over government forces. The coup failed and the civil war began. Now in its fifth year, millions of civilians have been caught in the crossfire. Over 300,000 people have been killed in the fighting, and over 1.3 million more injured. In addition, over 12 million have been seriously affected by the crisis and are in direct need of humanitarian assistance, more than the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Katrina, and the Indian Ocean Tsunami combined.
Convoy of Hope Europe has been working with refugees from the conflict since 2012. As the fighting continues, our response has been growing to meet the ever increasing needs of those affected by the fighting. Currently operating in six locations in five countries, we provide food, shelter, and other assistance to refugees across Europe and the Middle East.
